Committed to Truth, Transparency, and the Rights of Aging Adults

Langford, B.C. — Cherish at Central Park, a long-established and trusted age-in-place community, is responding to recent media coverage aired by CHEK News containing misleading allegations made by Greg Stewart and others, including claims regarding damage deposit mishandling.

We categorically deny these false and defamatory claims. Cherish has always operated in accordance with strict ethical and legal standards. Our damage deposit practices are fully documented, transparent, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. No deposits have been “stolen.” These assertions are not only incorrect—they are knowingly harmful.

Recent evidence confirms that Greg Stewart has conspired with former parties, including Barry Werbowski, in an ongoing campaign to discredit our work. These coordinated efforts have included trespassing, defamation, and actions to intimidate staff and third-party providers. Cherish is actively pursuing legal remedies, including actions in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, to protect its residents, employees, and reputation.

We have also received heartfelt letters of support from the families of former residents, such as a letter from Sue Pazder sister to Greg Stewart, daughter of the late Lucy Stewart, which praises Cherish’s exceptional care and directly contradicts the narrative being promoted by Mr. Stewart. This letter has been provided to legal counsel and media representatives.

Cherish at Central Park provides a critically important alternative to institutional care. Our age-in-place model—recognized by the Government of Canada—is one of the few in the province offering privacy, dignity, real food made from scratch, and seamless care through all stages of aging. We advocate for seniors’ rights to choose how they live and where they receive care, including remaining with their spouses in a warm, residential setting.

“We are proud of our team, proud of the lives we help improve every day, and we will continue to stand for the rights of aging Canadians,” says Micky Fleming, Founder & CEO. “We are confident that the truth will prevail—and we are committed to ensuring it does.”
